Everything about this image seems to be very smooth in a geometric way. The way O'brien mixes the curves within all of the shapes is very interesting and I love this kind of artwork because there is so much in it.
Looks like he used the transparency settings to make the "orange slices" blend into the background. Lots of similar colors and values helps it too. These are all great finds!
